I am happy to have organized a session at NACAC in Milwaukee last fall that made headlines: Bill Hiss unveiled Bates College’s very thorough study of 20 years of testing optional admission policies. It revealed that the differences between submitters and non-submitters in terms of their performance and results at Bates were insignificant. I don’t think a more thorough study has been done. Everyone who works in admission should take a look at it. It can be found on the Bates website at http://www.bates.edu.
